Special Events

Student Organizations

A Georgia Tech (GT) student organization sponsoring an event should complete the Special Events Questionnaire and return it to Insurance & Claims Management at least 14 days prior to the event date for review and determination of the need for insurance and/or use of a waiver of liability form.

GT Departments

A GT department sponsoring an event should complete the Special Events Questionnaire and return it to Insurance & Claims Management at least 14 days prior to the event date for review and determination of the need for insurance and/or use of a waiver of liability form.

Outside Organizations/Parties

An organization/party that is NOT an official GT sub-unit (this includes student organizations) that is sponsoring an event, must present the GT venue manager with a Certificate of Insurance that meets the following minimum requirements no later than seven (7) days prior to the event (certain venue license agreements or events may require additional coverage and/or higher limits):

$1,000,000 in general liability coverage for each occurrence with a $2,000,000 general aggregate limit; and the Certificate of Insurance must note that the Board of Regents, Georgia Institute of Technology, including its officers, agents and employees are additional insureds.

Please Note: Georgia Tech’s membership in the University Risk Management & Insurance Association (URMIA) enables prospective Georgia Tech Licensees to purchase event insurance directly through the URIMA Tenant-User Liability Insurance Policy (TULIP) program.

The URIMA TULIP program is accessible thru the website: https://tulip.ajgrms.com and does not require an “invitation code” to get a special events insurance quote or policy.  Georgia Tech Licensees, however, are free to purchase the required insurance through an insurance company of their choice.

If you should have any questions, please e-mail the Georgia Tech Insurance & Claims Management office at gtinsurance@business.gatech.edu or call 404.894.3483.
